Those from the Buddhist tradition might say that I’ve been given the opportunity to perform Right Livelihood… Lucky me!
In my other life, the one long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away…I was an Office Manager. I barely recognize my life from 10 years ago! My first gig, which I loved, was at Sonoma State University, working on campus for 2 different archaeology offices (The California Historical Resources Information System and The Anthropological Studies Center), for 10 years, then for my chiropractor, Dr. Richard Metz, for 7 years.
I am now self-employed as an Energy Therapist, working at our Center for Advanced Energy Medicine, in affiliation with Dr. Metz and his patients, as a Fundamental Field® Therapist. I am also assisting him in his efforts to hone and refine his creative process and presentation thereof (writing a book, preparing seminars and laying our foundation on the internet). I have been a patient of his since 1992. The reason I now do what I do, and feel so strongly about it, is because of the work I’ve done with Dr. Metz and his patients. I am also an Associate Polarity Practitioner (APP) and a current member of the American Polarity Therapy Association.
Because Dr. Metz’ therapy is the basis for what I do, I want to give you some background on him. Dr. Richard Metz is a Registered Polarity Practitioner who has had a successful chiropractic and energy medicine practice in the same location for 25 years. His work is based on Dr. Randolph Stone’s model of Polarity Therapy. Dr. Metz expanded on Dr. Stone’s revelations by coming up with a few of his own. Dr. Metz called his, Fundamental Field® Theory (in which he is, and has been, mentoring me — the learning and growing never ceases). Both theories have spiritual roots that acknowledge Divine Energy as the fundamental source of life and health. Both men implemented their therapies based on their training in western medicine and scientific research, as well as the exploration and incorporation of other culture’s healing, medicinal and spiritual traditions. Both men have successfully applied their skills to many patients, over the course of many years (Though Dr. Stone passed away in his 90’s, in the 1980’s).
Dr. Metz’ Fundamental Field Theory expands on Dr. Stone’s Energy Model by fully integrating chiropractic and polarity therapy with the traditional modalities. This includes Indian Ayurveda, Chinese Acupuncture Meridian therapy, Jin Shin Jyutsu, and Crani0-Sacral therapy, as well as rooting it more deeply and firmly into contemporary scientific thought (such as non-quantum physics and systems theory). There is now ONE THERAPY which addresses the energy of the mind, body, emotions, and spirit, how they interrelate and affect one another, all at once, all together! I am so excited because no one else, that I know of, has figured out such a distinctive theory and therapy as Dr. Metz. It is spiritually traditional and scientifically modern…with direct practical applications and implications, for a comprehensive, interconnected, healthcare system within, between and among groups of allopaths and naturopaths alike! I feel very lucky to be a part of this, as this is right up my alley! My focus as well, is to empower clients to develop their own valuable tool of intuition, give them relatively easy self-treatment protocols as needed, and suggestions that encompass various possibilities for action, based on their own personal energetic make-up.
Dr. Metz can cover a wide range of information and pinpoint what is going on with your system very efficiently. I can do the same with regards to treatment, but am still working on developing my skills of analysis, so that I can be quicker (and do what takes Dr. Metz 10 minutes to figure out, but might take me an hour). He is also a chiropractic doctor, a skill which moves the energy along more dramatically, but is something I don’t intend to pursue. My treatments are as effective as his, just different because I bring my own unique and feminine Maggie-energy to the work :-). Patients often like to see both of us, as they find our treatments, though different, are extremely complimentary (for obvious aforementioned reasons). We are both able to stand alone, most excellently, but I think that together we’re even better. 🙂

Informative, very enlightening, Maggie. Wish I was in your neck of the woods to look you up for treatment and a cup of coffee. I’m tethered here in the Philadelphia area.

Michael I’m glad you found it so. We hope to do much more in the future. I’m trying to bridge the gap between Dr. Metz’ scientific writing and something more accessible for the rest of us, well at least for me 🙂 Hands-on treatments are indeed best, but do keep in mind that Dr. Metz gives energetic analysis over the phone as well, for any given condition. Several of his patients live at a distance, Australia even!
As for coffee, would have to make mine herbal tea (rats). I’m much too sensitive and high-strung for caf. The hard bit is that coffee icecream is my very favorite! Yum Yum.
